Lend-A-Hand India is an experiment in social entrepreneurship
itself and presented an evening with young and passionate entrepreneurs
who are in the midst of pursuing their dream in our very own New
York City! Over 80 attendees listened to Tawny
Ong, Quentin
English and Melanie
Kannokada as they shared stories of their pursuit of happiness
against all odds. Panel discussion was moderated by Michael Pollack.

After spending few years in the world of finance, Tawny gave
it all up when one day she was passing by the open doors of a well-known
New York City cupcake bakery and was captivated by the smell of
baked goods and rest is history ! Since than she has catered several
times for the Mayor at Gracie Mansion, has been featured in Fox
Business News as well as in awarded in TimeOut NY as one of NYC's
best wedding cakes and baked a welcome home cake for Lady Gaga's
for her Monster Ball tour at Radio City Music Hall.
Quentin
English, Founder, "Quentin's Friends":
With a day job of Director of Branding at Citi, Quentin runs
"Quentin's Friends", an invitation-only paid subscription online
community with thousands of members who actively seek to help each
other. Based on the principle that our friends are people with whom
we share certain values, all the Members make a commitment that,
in all dealings with their fellow members, they will respect and
uphold the community's core founding Values.
Melanie
Kannokada, Actress and Model:
Melanie, a mechanical engineer from Stanford and ex-consultant
from McKinsey, gave it all up to make a leap into the world of entertainment.
She has been featured in over twenty advertising and fashion campaigns
including Herbal Essences and Verizon, hosted two national television
shows, and can soon be seen in the international feature film "Bicycle
Bride". She also hosts "Destination Bollywood," the first-ever Bollywood
variety show to be fully produced and aired exclusively in North
America, airing weekly on Star India and SET Asia.

Pollack, President SCA Charitable Foundation
Mr. Pollack is the President of SCA Charitable Foundation and, in
that capacity, has been extremely active in venture stage philanthropy
in India, backing a number of education based projects throughout
India. Mr. Pollack is also the Managing Partner of Pollack Holdings,
his family office. Prior to founding Pollack Holdings, in 2001 Mr.
Pollack co-founded and was General Partner of Glenhill Capital,
a global, multi-sector equities hedge fund which grew to over $2.5
billion in assets under his management. Mr. Pollack graduated summa
cum laude with a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of Business
at the University of Pennsylvania.
