Third Annaul Gala (Sat, Sept 13th,2008)
Over hundred and fifty supporters from all the walks of life
attended Lend-A-Hand India's Third Annual Gala in the New York City.
Mr. Bob Simon, Sr. Foreign Correspondent for "60 Minutes" and Dr.
Abhijit Banerjee, Director of Poverty Action Lab and Ford Professor
of Economics at MIT were the honorary guests for the gala. The gala
raised over $10,000 which will contribute to provide vocational
training to young girls and boys from the rural India. The performances
for the evening included: C3 , A New York Tap Cooperative
- an exhiliarating tap dacing performance; Bollywood Axion

Run for a Dream - 5K Run/Walk, Riverside Park, New York (Apr 6th,2008)
Over hundred, young women and men braved the cold weather and
participated in the first annual 5K Run/Walk event organized by
Lend-A-Hand India at Riverside Park in the New York City on the

Small Steps…Big Strides in Indian Villages...In the small
rural village of Mod, the local high school had no toilet or bathroom
facilities, this seemingly minor problem had become a major hindrance
to the education of the young girls. Students of our vocational
training program took up the challenge ~ designed and constructed

Bridge Loan: One in five graduates of the basic rural
technology (IBT) program offered by Lend-A-Hand India1 wants to
become an entrepreneur, but, with no capital or experience, there
is little chance. Lend-A-Hand India sees a way to extend further
help: by providing bridge loans to qualified candidates to get them
started, and a mentor to guide them from business development to
access to capital from the formal banking system. Read story of
