Mumbai Unwrapped (August 19, 2011)

"Mumbai Unwrapped"

Come and discover Mumbai as never seen before…Watch the dudes of Dharavi play a 3-hole golf tournament, an enterprising super multi-lingual boy selling peacock feathers at the Hanging Gardens, a slideshow and talk on South Mumbai by its lover on two legs.. by way of short clips, pictures, talk and much more! Its glorious history, origin and what makes it “Maximum City”!

Hosted by Diana Pinto, former Miss India USA, it will be an evening to remember!

The proceeds will benefit Lend-A-Hand India (www.lend-a-hand-india.org) an NGO that provides job and life skills to over 10,000 young boys and girls in India's remote villages.

"Mumbai Unwrapped" is not just about cocktails and delectable appetizers while listening to the funky rhythms playing in the background at the hip Bonobo in Bandra, it’s also an opportunity to strike fun conversations and make new friends. A blend of old and new, of growing wealth and flagrant poverty. Embedded in the diversity of its people, in music, art, dance, religion and lifestyle is a free liberal spirit that is so Mumbai. So come and celebrate with us !

About Lend-A-Hand India Founded by young professionals based in New York, Lend-A-Hand India (LAHI), provides job and critical life skills training, career counseling and bridge loans to young entrepreneurs from rural India.

Currently, working in government aided high schools in the remote parts of Maharashtra, LAHI runs a three year job and life skills training program in 62 villages reaching more than 10,000 students. We recruit local trade practitioners (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, agriculturists etc) to teach trade skills at local high schools for one a day week for three years, making the high school education much more practical and relevant.
