Sponsor Anusha's "Run for a dream"
- a dream to make a difference
Dear Friends,
When I initially decided that I wanted to complete a Half Marathon,
it was purely as a personal challenge. When I heard about Lend-A-Hand
India's Run for a Dream program I thought it would be a fantastic
opportunity to do more than just focus on a finish line.
Lend-A-Hand India focuses on grass-roots level initiatives to provide
vocational training and career development. If you have a spare
moment, have a look at the description of Project Swadheen, which
I was specifically inspired by. The project provides training in
20 different skills such as poultry farming, electric maintenance,
tailoring, nursing assistance, and construction. The students are
both girls and boys between the ages of 14 - 20. The project also
offers full and partial scholarships to students. Unlike top down
developmental schemes, programs such as this offer tangible results,
emphasizing equality of opportunity. These students are better equipped
to seek employment and since many of these schools are in rural
areas, this is a focused approach to helping alleviate rural unemployment.
I am currently training to run for the Hamptons Half Marathon on
September 29th and will be running 13.1 miles. I would really appreciate
your support in this endeavour by sponsoring my run and contributing
funds to Lend-A-Hand India.
Lend-a-Hand India is a 501(C)(3) organization, and all donations
