Dear Friends,
I am running the Philidelphia marathon on Nov 18th 2007 for a charity
called "Lend A Hand India". My aim is to
raise $100 per mile of the 26.2 mile marathon.
Here in New York, the city of unlimited opportunity it is easy to
forget that millions of youth lack even the most basic facilities
to succeed. LAHI is a charity that aims to promote intrinsic growth
and success in communities across India by providing the young people
there with training and tools to work towards a better future.The
vocational schools set up by LAHI train hundreds of deserving boys
and girls in rural communities opening up employment opportunities
for them, providing a stable source of income for their families.
Here are some examples of what your donation will do:
- $100 pays for the tuition fee of two boys / girls for a vocational
training program
- $400 pays the one-year salary of a trainer at the school
- $1500 pays to purchase a PC and internet facility for a high school
- $4000 pays for the one year of operating cost of a batch of students
for training programs (includes teacher's salaries, consumables,
coordination, and monitoring) or meets the capital cost of launching
a vocational training center at a high school,
... but of course, any amount helps even $10 will pay tuition for
2 kids for a month !
17 such centers have been set up in just the last two years. Please
contribute to make this endeavor a continued success. You can contribute

tax-exempt.
